IV. Glass Practice
Within contemporary glass, Gibbons operates not only as a maker, but as a builder of systems. His work integrates precision dot stacking, advanced line-work, architecturally layered geometric structures, airflow engineering, Maximizing Surface area and structural symmetry, often combining multiple advanced techniques within a single piece.
Glass is not treated as decoration. It is approached as a disciplined form of construction shaped by material behavior, intent, and control.
Each work is conceived with the understanding that a single composition can contain enough complexity to function as multiple standalone works.
He has also developed a formal framework for evaluating glass based on craftsmanship, rarity of material, technical difficulty, precision of execution, and the intent behind creation.
In doing so, he is helping position glass within a more rigorous fine art standard.
